Principal Antenna and Radar Systems Engineer

This position requires a strong academic background and experience in antenna and radar system theory and design, including architectures and RF/Microwave components and subsystems. A strong working knowledge of antenna theory and phased array radar systems is required, including expertise with topics related to radar signal analysis such as aperture weighting functions, beam shape loss, sidelobe cancellation and blanking techniques, monopulse slope calculations, pulse compression waveforms, collapsing and integration loss calculations, dynamic range and stability budgets, clutter analysis, anti-jamming, etc. Familiarity with volume search calculations, target tracking statistics, and radar range resolution and accuracy is a plus. Candidates should have strong analytical skills in radar, antenna, and microwave systems, as well as hands-on experience in the testing of microwave components and antennas.
The ability to assess the impact of aperture requirements on the rest of the radar system (e.g., receiver/exciter, power distribution, digital signal processor, etc.) is required. Candidates should have strong written and oral communications skills, and a desire to provide technical support for proposal activities. Team leadership skills including cost and schedule management experience are desired. Candidates should have a propensity for learning through self-study, and be comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.


Basic Qualifications

- MS degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 years experience in antenna or radar analysis and hardware design and test

Desired Qualifications

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Strong academic background that includes courses in: Radar Systems Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Electromagnetic Theory, Antenna Theory, and Radar Signal Theory

- Hands-on experience with numerical modeling tools such as matlab, mathcad, HP ADS, and phased array or RCS analysis tools

- Strong measurement capability, including Vector Network Analyzers, and antenna measurements

- Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations

- Experience in cost estimating, budget and schedule management

- Experience leading technical teams in antenna, RF/microwave, or radar developments
