SR. COMPOSITES ENGINEER
This hands-on position focuses on designing and fabricating innovative composite product designs and processes, as well as material selection and recommendation. The successful candidate will participate in the development, management, and successful completion of government and industry R&D programs involving composite materials technologies in such areas as shipbuilding, aerospace and space applications. In addition, will write proposals, technical reports and create presentations.
Requirements:
MS in Composites, Materials, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
10+ Years experience with composites development and engineering, emphasizing design and analysis and/or materials and processes
Core material design or selection experience required.
Fabric lay-up sequence design experience for solid laminate/sandwich panels experience preferred.
Knowledge of multiple composites manufacturing processes (Pultrusion, VARTM, RTM, hand-lay up, filament winding, vacuum forming, sandwich panel fabrication, bonding, and machining)
Demonstrated ability to develop composite product designs, and verify those designs through prototype fabrication and testing. Finite element analysis expertise using ANSYS required; NASTRAN a plus.
Computational Fluid Dynamics experience, Composites material experience preferred.
Ability to handle multiple projects and follow through to completion.
Experience with design and FEA software applications as they apply to composite materials is a plus, especially Solidworks & ANSYS
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of MS Office applications
US Citizenship or resident legal alien (ITAR and DoD program requirements).
