Job Description: PROJECT:

A Senior Software Engineer for the Crypto Modernization Department will assume responsibility for participating in software development efforts and contributing to a project’s technical, cost, and schedule performance.
This individual will work in the Government Systems Information Assurance Directorate, leading software engineers specializing in the design and accreditation/certification of Department of Defense cryptographic equipment.

POSITION:

The successful candidate will be a member of a 5 to 10 person software development team with the role of planning and controlling the entire software development lifecycle. Responsibilities of this position will include project planning and managing the project's budget, schedule, and scope. Responsibilities of this position also include supporting risk analysis, and software change control. Reporting project status to internal customers and management will entail earned value metrics, risk analysis, and software change control metrics. The candidate will be expected to mentor junior engineers and be willing to meet with customers and business partners at their facilities (20% travel expected).

ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED:

• Familiarity with the high assurance software development processes • Experience with Real Time Embedded OS within a high assurance coding environment • C and C++ • In addition to these technical skills, the candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to interface with both internal and external customers (different government agencies), program management, and senior management across all business areas within the Government Systems organization is a must.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Experience developing IPSEC solutions, including Kernel modifications • Exposure to NSA and its requirements [Unified INFOSEC Criteria (UIC) / Information Assurance Security Requirement Directive (IASRD)] • Knowledge of Federal and Department of Defense certification efforts, including NSA Type 1, Common Criteria, and DIACAP certifications, and the methods and guidelines for ensuring the successful NSA certification of a variety of products.
• This individual should understand the evolving modernization of DoD communication equipment and its interfaces.
• Experience with Ada95 and other high-order languages in an embedded application is highly desirable • Experience with UML, CORBA, and DO-178B is helpful • Experience with earned value performance systems, DOORS, and Federal Acquisition Regulations
