Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products which require use of ingenuity and creativity. Based on broadly defined problems study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned highly complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature.

Without detailed direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint.

-Design and analysis of communications systems for satellite and interplanetary applications. Familiar with analyses such as link budgets, gain/loss budgets, noise figure, linearity, spurious, etc.
- Requirements flow-down from top-level customer document to component-level specification.
- Prepare and present design reviews for internal and external customers
- Subcontractor management (some travel required) and manufacturing interface definition including performance specification, interface control drawing, and statement of work generation, as well as continuous technical support throughout the procurement life cycle
- Integration and test support for the communications systems including unit-level functional and environmental testing, spacecraft level testing, and in-orbit checkout.
Responsibilities:

-Perform highly complex analysis, test, design and/or development. Perform preliminary/original design and analysis
-Plan strategies for analysis, test and design used for task planning and execution. Analyze project requirements and develop detailed objectives and detailed planning, conceptual designs and risk analysis.
-Develop and oversee test programs to evaluate new materials or the assign portion of the project/program. Analyze and review test data.
-Lead in the development of reports and design notes. Document and present results of analysis, test and design.
-Interact with internal and external customers. Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems. Support new business and prepare proposal material.
-Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production and maintenance phases of a project.
-Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

-Seven years of related experience is required.

- BSEE with some combination of the following course work: antennas, microwave theory, satellite communications, radio-wave propagation, electromagnetics. Good understanding of communications and microwave theory. Experience with microwave component/system measurement preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work with others from engineering and non-engineering disciplines in a fast-paced team environment
- Good oral presentation skills and comfort with customer interaction. Ability to write technical documents clearly and concisely.
