Senior Project Planner/Scheduler
Location – Toronto , ON
Term - Permanent
Position Summary
The Senior Project Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the coordination, preparation and maintenance of Master Project Schedules and monitoring the progress of works of various project contractors in accordance with the program guidelines. These duties will be performed in close conjunction internally with the Project Manager, Project Engineers, Engineering staff and other Project Control team members and externally with the Contractors’ project control staff.
Responsibilities
* Participates in development of project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
* Prepares master project schedule by defining activities, dependencies and interfaces with support from Project Management Team and various engineering team leaders
* Interacts with the Contractors’ personnel to review and analyze contract schedules
* Performs schedule/cost analysis, highlights critical paths/risk areas, assesses cost performance during progress updates and communicates issues to the Project Management in order to minimize schedule impacts
* Updates project schedules with input from teams, consultants and contractors
* Reviews scope changes and claims for schedule/cost impact and provides feedback to financial and contract management staff.
* Assists in budgeting process by assigning budgets/costs to tasks and develops cash flows utilizing budget/schedule data
* Prepares schedule bar chart reports, graphs and cost/schedule performance reports for project review meetings
* Develops processes to monitor, expedite and assess contractors’ progress and various project deliverables
* Prepares project schedule and progress narrative reports as requested by the Project Manager, complete with required metrics utilizing Primavera database and MS Office tools
Requirements
* College or University graduate plus a minimum 10 years of experience in large scale capital projects.
* Must have good understanding of multi-discipline engineering and construction projects.
* Must have solid understanding of core project control concepts (WBS, CPM based scheduling, Earned Value Progress Measurement), PMBOK/PMI principles
* Experience and advance skills in Primavera (P3e/P6) project management software tool
* Working knowledge of MS Office applications
* Must be well organized and possess good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
* Must possess the analytical skills to foresee potential problems and avoid them by preplanning.
* Professional certifications such as P. Eng, PMP are desirable, but not mandatory.
