Seeking a Project Engineer with experience in large scale power generation for key technical support role in development of solar thermal power projects. Based in the company headquarters in CA, the Project Engineer will provide critical engineering and technical support to development managers for U.S. project sites. The Project Engineer will be responsible for project technical definition and configuration, ensuring adherence to accepted engineering practices. The selected individual will supervise third-party services and studies, including development of functional specifications, electrical transmission interconnection studies and development-related engineering activities. The responsible individual is accountable to ensure that assigned personnel coordinate their activities with other project participants, and that contract requirements are satisfied.
This mid-career engineering professional will support multiple projects as they progress from site acquisition through conceptual planning, permitting, engineering and design, construction, and on to commercial operation.
Requirements:
Dynamic project coordination skills with command of multiple engineering disciplines
Ability to function effectively in a lean, development-oriented, office environment
Ability to plan and manage multiple outside service providers and to effectively scope and scrutinize engineering deliverables
Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail with keen big-picture awareness
Familiarity with relevant codes, standards and best practices in the utility-scale power generation environment
Experience with large-scale FEED programs and EPC/EPCM type contract structures
Strong functional knowledge of power, process, electrical and mechanical design
Qualifications:
5-10 years experience in power project development is essential – preferably in large-scale conventional electrical generation projects
Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline preferred
Electrical/transmission systems specialization preferred
MS, P.E. license or other advanced credentials a plus
Experience in concentrating solar-thermal power helpful (PV not highly relevant)
Fluency in Spanish a plus, but not required.
