Job Summary: 
PIC Group has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Operations Supervisor to assist in the day-to-day operations of a 45MW renewable energy site in central California. The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager and is responsible for all aspects of plant operations including direct leadership and supervision of plant operations staff.  The Operations Supervisor is accountable for the safe and efficient dispatch and operation of equipment involved in the production of steam and electricity. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for establishing succession as well as development plans for operations staff, tracking their milestone accomplishments, and strategizing internal advancement opportunities.  The Operations Supervisor is an integral part of the site management team and is expected to effectively communication and collaborate with all levels of personnel, proactively lead by example, reinforcing our client’s core values of Safety, Reliability, Efficiency, and Responsibility.  The Operations Supervisor is expected to continuously improve and develop employee culture, by utilizing their technical expertise, discretion, and judgement within established policies, procedures, and best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Ensure the safe and reliable operation of the facility, assuring all site safety and environmental requirements, procedures, and corrective actions are properly implemented. 
•    Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in performing duties.
•    Oversees and provides direct supervision and feedback on all operations, including startup, shutdown, inspection, routine chemical testing, all switching and tagging, and equipment troubleshooting. 
•    Writes, reviews, revises and implements all site operating procedures.
•    Directly assists the Assistant Plant Manager in department administration and power plant management. 
•    Maintains administrative documents, prepares and controls annual operations and maintenance budgets. 
•    Ability to locate, trouble-shoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment and/or maintain, install, modify and trouble-shoot plant electrical systems and equipment without "tripping" equipment.
•    Ability to communicate and coordinate work on technical subjects with others across job families and with outside vendors.
•    Ensures employees are provided with the tools and equipment to properly perform their work.
•    Provides advice and counsel to the Assistant Plant Manager regarding the technical and administrative conduct of shift operations.
•    Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant through supervision of direct reports, completing performance reviews, conducting investigations, and administering discipline as required.
•    Assists in the selection, orientation, training, and development of new employees and promotions, assuring high work quality of O&M Technicians.
•    Serves as the "Manager on Duty" for critical work required after normal hours to ensure the oversight and execution of work.
•    Plans, directs, and supervises routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment.
•    Communicates with other company personnel on-site and at other locations.
•    Represents the company when dealing with steam and power customers, vendors, contractors, regulators, and other non-company personnel.
•    Maximizes plant efficiency and shareholder value without compromising personnel and equipment safety, environmental compliance or the long-term commercial viability of the facility.
•    Available for scheduled and unscheduled shift coverage, performing all required tasks and responding to off-hour call-ins when contacted.
•    Establishes and maintains high personal and professional standards of safety and environmental conscientiousness and compliance.
 
Job Requirements:
•    Ability to read, write and communicate effectively as well as perform mathematical calculations.
•    Prior hands-on biomass working experience is essential.
•    Proven knowledge of power plant safety policies and procedures, especially in the areas of high-energy systems, chemical handling, heavy equipment, rotating machinery, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, and first aid.
•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to understand principles related to physics, mathematics, AC and DC electrical theory, chemistry, water treatment process, thermal dynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow.
•    Demonstrated knowledge regarding operation of valves, switches, controls, keyboards and other devices associated with power plants.
•    Proven knowledge of maintenance management systems.
•    Competently comprehend and apply technical information, including mechanical and electrical drawings (such as blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams and schematics) to problem-solving situations.
•    Proven operating and maintenance experience with various analytical and test equipment.
•    Demonstrated knowledge, skill and prior hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience relating to instrumentation and control systems used in modern power stations, including burner management, combustion control, boiler controls, turbine controls, machine condition monitoring and continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS).
•    Confidently lead and build interpersonal personnel relationships.

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, and kneel. 
•    Ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time. 
•    Able to wear a respirator, climb and work from ladders and pass through small openings to inspect equipment.
•    Required to frequently lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds in weight.
•    Vision requirements include the use of close, distance and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
•    Able to perform job duties in a field office shared by other site personnel, and an operating powerhouse that exhibits a loud noise level.

Education / Experience:
•    A high school diploma or GED required, with 7+ years’ experience in a supervisory/ management role in a solid fuel power plant. 
OR
•    An Associates degree or industry-recognized certificate in a related discipline with 5+ years of supervisory or managerial experience in a solid fuel fired power plant, or 2 years of military experience at an officer level.
OR
•    A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 4+ years of supervisory or managerial experience in a solid fuel fired power plant.
•    Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
