TetraTek, Inc. (TTI) is seeking degreed fire protection engineers to support opportunities at various Department of Energy (DOE) sites. Applicants will be expected to perform the following fire protection functions:

• Interpret, evaluate, and apply DOE Orders, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulations, NFPA Codes and Standards, Building Codes and project fire protection procedures to arrive at efficient and cost-effective guidance for project and facility-level fire protection.
• Review the adequacy of project fire protection programs and activities to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
• Evaluate the adequacy of facility design and occupancy in accordance with applicable fire protection criteria and recommend changes as applicable.
• Develop, review and evaluate requests for fire safety exemptions and equivalencies.
• Conduct onsite reviews to ensure an appropriate level of fire safety is provided.
• Perform design reviews and review vendor submittals.
• Conduct Fire Protection Engineering Assessments and Life Safety Code Evaluations as required by the Fire Protection Program.
• Support the development and maintenance of Project Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) documents.
• Review fire hazard analyses, assessments, and other fire safety documentation.
• Participate in site fire investigations.
• Maintain proficiency in fire protection engineering services concepts and practices.
• Review drawings and specifications for compliance.

Job-Related Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering Technology
• Knowledgeable in NFPA Fire Codes and Standards, Building Codes, and DOE Orders/NRC Regulations relating to fire protection.
• Knowledge of general engineering procedures and practices as it applies to nuclear/hazardous facilities.
• Working knowledge of personal computer and software including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be eligible to obtain a DOE Clearance.
