Job Description: The Advanced Product Development group designs and develops needles, syringes and intravenous catheters for medication delivery, pre-filled injection devices, surgical blades and scalpels, regional anesthesia delivery devices, and critical care monitoring devices. These innovative products serve customers such as hospitals and clinics, physicians’ office practices, public health agencies, and healthcare workers around the globe.
As a Mechanical Engineer in the R&D group, you will lead and contribute to prioritized product development projects. The Mechanical Engineer will:
Provide Project Leadership
Effectively direct (and potentially lead) the work of other engineers and laboratory technicians to achieve objectives as necessary Identify, break down and solve complex problems, and provide technical direction to others Independently plan and execute to achieve design and development objectives Participate as a member of a cross-functional team or lead a cross-functional team to deliver to business-critical product development commitments Impact Project Execution Participate in the design of new devices and components; perform FEA analysis on device and component designs Leverage understanding of first engineering principles, advanced engineering methods, data and judgment to influence the course of product development activities Develop deep customer understanding and identifies unmet needs and potential new product concepts Using expert technical skills, conceive, plan and lead development activities from concept through successful commercialization Ensure compliance with quality policies, procedures and practices as well as with all local, state, federal and client safety regulations, policies and procedures
Required Education and Skills:
Education
• MS degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with at least 4 years of FEA experience, and/or PhD degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with at least 2 years of FEA experience. Experience in product development life cycle essential.
Skills
• Demonstrated advanced FEA skills (Non-linear & large deformation) w/ Abaqus, ANSYS, etc by performing FEA analysis on device and component designs • Understanding of Fluid dynamics (CFD) a plus • Innovative and Brainstorming with strong technical judgment • Medical device experience a plus but not necessary • Understanding of disciplined product development processes and quality requirements; regulatory a plus • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills; Results driven and action oriented
