Job Title: Physical Therapist
Location: Biloxi, Mississippi
2. Clinical Functions:
a. Answers medical consults using standard and specialized
examination procedures, interpreting prescription and appropriately orders
treatment which utilizes all necessary therapy disciplines, subject to
review by Chief, PM&RS.
b. Independently develops and implements a physical therapy treatment program, using judgment to modify the treatment as a result of changing medical conditions or because of a variety of severe physical and mental disabilities.
c. Uses standard and specialized methods for interpreting a wide
Variety of patient physical functional levels and for providing progressive treatments.
d. Directs and provides guidance to Physical Therapy Assistants in
proper application of physical therapy methods and techniques.
e. Implements treatment plans which directly affect the patient's
social, economic and functional well being and which are age-specific.
f. Maintains a balanced workload within clinics by properly assigning
Staff and patients.
g. Works effectively with treatment team members and other health
care providers in coordinating patient's total care.
h. Documents in writing patient's initial, interim and discharge condition in a timely manner.
I. Maintains FIM certification.
Administrative Functions
a. Maintains clinic records and files, both administrative and medical, and ensures confidentiality of sensitive data.
b. Incumbent schedules outpatient clinic appointment using Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) scheduling options. Uses established business rules to schedule appointments for veterans. This includes clinic visits, consultations and entries into the Electronic Wait List (EWL). Complies with the mandatory training requirements for the outpatient scheduling process
c. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
d. Orients other Medical Center personnel to Physical Therapy
operations and procedures.
e. Regularly inspects equipment assigned to clinic to identify those
devices which pose a safety risk or are in need of repair.
f. Promotes professionalism and high ethical and moral standards
among Physical Therapy staff.
G. Promotes safety within Physical Therapy and supports center-wide
Safety program.
h. Safeguards personal information of the veterans and their families, VA employees and applicants entrusted to the VA. Abides by rules, regulations and policies including General Awareness Training, VHA Privacy Training, and Cyber Training. Complies with applicable confidentiality statues and regulations in order safeguard information.
