30-09 Electrical Engineer
Job Description: Electrical Engineer possessing the ability to utilize new or improved engineering techniques and procedures to design and troubleshoot industrial control equipment used in electrical systems for NSLS II project. The candidate will report to the head of the Electrical Engineering Group.
Qualifications Required: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum of 7 years experience in design and testing of industrial control systems. The candidate should have design experience in designing small to medium scale motion and or process controls systems. This should include the design experience using PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) , VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), and servo and or stepper motor controllers. Experience in the interfacing sensors for temperature, pressure, and position to control systems. The candidate must have experience in the selection of the hardware required for these type of systems. The candidate must also have experience in using circuit analysis software for modeling electrical systems. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of scientist and technical staff.
Qualifications Preferred: Programming experience for PLC and motion controller hardware is preferred. Knowledge in reliability criteria as it pertains to industrial controls is desirable. Knowledge of electrical system used in a particle accelerator is a plus. Familiarity using Lab View software for testing and control of electrical systems. Strong technical writing skills is also preferred.
Length of Assignment: Approximately 1 year
Rate of pay: $55.00-$70.00/hr (depending on experience)
