SUMMARY

MCE Staffing is currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide technical support to our Richland, WA based client in support of the Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) Project at the DOE Savannah River Site.

Duration: Estimated to be 6 months in length, with possibilities of direct hire.

Work Location: Requires up to 100% travel. "home base" will be Savannah River.

Assumptions: Candidates not local to the assigned work area are offered a weekend trip home every 4 weeks as long as there is 30 days left in their contract.

Additional perks may be available and will be discussed upon offer.

BACKGROUND

The SWPF currently under construction on the Savannah River Site (SRS) will ultimately treat the highly radioactive salt solutions presently stored in underground tanks in preparation for final disposition. SWPF will safely process 33 million gallons of radioactive liquid and salt cake at the SRS.

JOB DUTIES

In support of Salt Waste Processing Facility Project Office, the QA Engineer will undertake the following activities:

- Organize and perform QA-related assessments on the primary Contractor and the Sub-contractors associated with the SWPF project to ensure compliance with DOE O 414.1C and all facets of ASME/NQA-1; requirements to include Vendor and Supplier assessments (in-house and at Vendors facilities).

- Perform design review of Mechanical (welding, piping, structural, etc.), construction drawings for compliance to applicable Codes and Standards and design specifications before issuance for construction or component assembly.

-Review specifications and procedures provided by contractors to ensure they meet the minimum requirements of ASME/NQA-1 and all associated design specifications.

- Perform field walk downs to ensure components and systems are installed as required by DOE directives and design requirements.

DELIVERABLES

Surveillance and inspection reports and document reviews.

QA Program/System

DOE QA Directive and QA Rule requirements applicable to SWPF construction include DOE O 414.1C Quality Assurance, and 10 CFR 830 Nuclear Safety Management, Subpart A Quality Assurance Requirements. The applicable QA national consensus standard is ASME/NQA-1. Typical construction codes and standards will be used such as: ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section 8, ANSI B Piping Codes, NEC, NFPA, ACI, ASTM standards, AWS, etc.

Monitoring Progress/Compliance

Work progress and compliance to the requirements of this SOW will be accomplished through bi-weekly reports to the project manager or his/her designee describing actions undertaken and completed within the last two week period. A copy of each report will be provided to DOE Task manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Subject Matter Expert for DOE-SR relative to ASME requirements to include; NQA-1, welding, nondestructive examinations, and personnel qualifications per American Society for Nondestructive Testing and American Welding Society requirements.

Current or former (within the last 10 years) Certifications:

-AWS Certified Welding Inspector

-ASNT certification Level II or III in RT, UT, MT, PT, and VT

-Audit Team Leader [NQA-a based program]

OTHER

Travel as needed (up to 50%) to perform onsite assessments at various vendor facilities.
