Requirements:
This position requires strong DSA writing skills. Only senior level, experienced DSA writer resumes will be reviewed.
Safety Basis Support:
- Maintaining the safety basis program infrastructure
- Mentoring staff in safety basis development and implementation
- Providing compliance support related to the safety basis and criticality safety requirements for nuclear facilities;
- Reviewing and commenting on revisions and amendments to nuclear safety basis documents (Safety Analysis Reports, Documented Safety Analyses, Technical Safety Requirements, Justifications for Continued Operations, etc.);
- Arranging for and/or participating in the review and comment on the documented safety analyses, TSR’s and JCO;
- Supporting implementation of changes to safety basis documents;
- Providing Technical Support to BIO or DSA implementation strategies;
- Participating and/or arranging for the performance of readiness reviews, assessments and appraisals of adequacy of changes to safety basis documents; completing review and comment on completed reports;
-Coordinating the development and/or maintenance of the Nuclear Criticality Safety Program procedures and evaluations;
- Coordinating the development and maintenance of Nuclear Safety Procedures;
-Provide DOE regulatory compliance support related to hazard categorization;
- Develop guidelines for approval of nuclear safety basis documents and administrative controls;
- Identifying and implementing correction actions;
USQ Process
- Need to utilize USQ procedures to ensure the requirements of 10 CFR 830.203, “Unreviewed Safety Question Process” and the detailed guidance and examples found in DOE G 424.1-1A, Implementation Guide, are used in addressing the Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) requirements for nuclear facilities.
- Will evaluate operational activities, facility modifications, and procedures that may affect the current safety basis authorizations and new safety basis documentation.
-Perform the USQ process evaluations for procedures, work clearance permits and other documents subject to the USQ process. Will provide comments and feedback to facility management, work planners, procedure writers, or others as necessary to ensure that planned activities are performed within the Safety Basis.
