The successful candidate should be interested in challenging assignments applying cutting edge technology in the design/drafting and development of design drawings/documents to facilitate successful construction of modifications associated with hydro-electric, fossil fuel and nuclear facilities.* Assignments involve a significant amount of retrofit and repair, modifications, upgrades and life cycles extension to existing facilities and equipment.*

Specific responsibilities include:

Development of complex design drawings with little or no guidance from senior staff

Checking of design drawings and calculations generated by junior designers/designers for technical accuracy and completeness.*

Interpret and layout flow diagrams and P&IDs associated with various Hydro and Fossil Power Plant Systems.

Develop equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings, pipe supports and instrument mounting details etc.**

*Develop bill of materials.

Field verification and As-Built update of construction drawings.


Required skills

Familiarity with applicable codes, standards and regulations.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks on multidiscipline team projects.

User experience with Auto-CAD and working knowledge of Auto-CAD a must.

Field visits and travel is required to verify field conditions.

Experience required


Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.**Candidates with exceptional experience, without a degree, will also be considered. A minimum of seven (7) years* experience in design of various components of Mechanical discipline projects v Piping, Fire Protection, HVAC etc; preferably in a utility company or an AE firm.
