Pipe Support Engineer – Florida City, FL
MUST HAVE 2D and 3D CAD, and POWER PLANT EXP!
The candidate will be working as a Pipe Support Engineer for the Turkey
Point Repowering Projects in Southern Florida. Candidate will be
capable of walking down pipe supports, locating and designing supports
for various piping systems, performing calculations to verify support
design, placing supports in a 3D model environment, extract drawings and
generate/edit 2D Microstation drawings for fabrication / installation.
The design will also include running interference check through the 3DM
environment, interfacing with structural steel designers, piping
designers, and pipe support checker. Knowledge of the application / use
of pipe support hardware. Knowledge of industry standards, design
criteria, and relative codes. The above skills have been acquired through significant experience in drafting, experience in design, and specialized courses in engineering practices and / or from a recognized accredited institution. Efficiently utilize related computer programs during the support design and checking process. Travel as required to vendor facilities, client and and other Client offices as required. Participate in on-the-job training programs. Experinced in the use of office programs such as Excel & Microsoft Word. Prepare calculations using structural analysis software such as FAPPS, MAPPS, ME-035,BaseplateII etc. Good oral and written communication skills are required for coordination of design with piping designers, pipe stress analysts and construction personnel. Pipe support design experience on a recent power project or other large industrial facility, as well as recent experience in the use of 2D CAD is required.
Basic Qualifications
10 to 15 years experience on recent Power projects designing pipe supports.
AA degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
The candidate must be a self starter and be able to work independently
on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Must have good oral and written communication skills to conduct
coordination activities with piping designers, pipe support engineers
and construction personnel.
Experience in the use of Microsoft office programs such as Excel and Word.
Applicants must have the right to work/remain in the U.S. and must be capable of passing necessary background and drug checks to obtain a badge at a nuclear facility..
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication in English.
Preferred Requirements:
5 years experience on a Nuclear Power project
BS degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering
Obtained EIT or PE license.
Hands-on use of a 2D and 3D CAD program.
