Job Title: Quality Project Oversight Specialist
Work Location: Client’s Nuclear Station
Client’s Major Projects is seeking the services of an experienced Quality Oversight Specialist with recent (within 5 years) 10CFR50 Appendix B experience. A minimum of five years of directly relevant commercial nuclear work history is required.
The individual will perform Quality Oversight role for project design, procurement and construction activities, and assess implementation to committed QA program requirements, applicable contract requirements, and established Owner and Supplier QA program and process requirements.
Implementation of Natural Phenomenon Barrier System (NPBS), High Energy Line Break (HELB), and Protected Service Water (PSW) Project activities are implemented by Client’s Major Projects (OMP) and out-sourced Engineering, Construction, and Procurement service providers. Project Quality Oversight Specialist will perform compliance oversight of activities across spectrum of Appendix B program areas, including mechanical, civil and electrical design, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation and construction.
Selected applicant must obtain/retain unescorted nuclear plant access.
The selected applicant will have a work history that reflects—
- 10CFR50 Appendix B quality assurance background including ANSI N45.2/NQA-1
- Experience in field construction/shop fabrication environment.
- Proven knowledge of related engineering and quality assurance standards, techniques and criteria.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to comprehend and convey technical data.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and management.
- Good problem identification and resolution skills.
- Good organization skills.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively perform and document oversight activities.
As directed by T/HELB Project Quality Oversight Coordinator, the Project Quality Oversight Specialist will:
- Perform quality oversight of project design, procurement, and construction activities and related QA program implementation.
- Formally document results of audit, surveillance and oversight observations performed on-site or at supplier shop facilities. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain detailed work schedules e.g., daily task and oversight activities.
- Maintain individual oversight plans, schedules, and issues-tracking databases. Track open issues and deficiencies and assess effectiveness/completeness of corrective action completion. Assist in development of metrics tracking and reporting tools and processes.
Assist with development of team oversight schedule planning, checklists, processes, and post work critiques (lessons learned). Recommend changes to existing methods, procedures, and processes to improve overall effectiveness of oversight strategy.
- Generate periodic oversight summary reports identifying trends and offering recommendations.
Generate or revise checklists, as necessary, to perform oversight activities.
- When required, coordinate oversight with/through the Project supplier of procurement services.
Utilize Duke Energy provided software programs—Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Share Point).
- Assist T/HELB Quality Project Oversight Coordinator as required.
Overnight travel to supplier shops may be required.
Position requires working in industrial environment and strict adherence to pertinent site, Project, and Supplier health, safety, and environmental requirements.
