Description NPD (Nuclear Plant Development) Staff Augment – Environmental
Specialist. Job Description: This position reports to the Supervisor - NPD
Environmental Permitting, and is responsible for providing environmental
leadership for the deployment of new nuclear generating facilities in the
Carolinas and Florida. Responsibilities: ---The first principle area of
responsibility is support of the NRC review process of the Environmental
Report (ER) and associated sections of the FSAR (and other COL application
documents). This will continue through the NRC's Request-for
Additional-Information (RAI) phase and Atomic Safety & Licensing Board
(ASLB) mandatory hearings, until the COL is issued for both Harris and
Levy Nuclear Plants. ---The second principle area of responsibility
includes the management and oversight of environmental permits and license
activities associated with the selected sites. As site development
continues, this position would support development of the ODCM (Offsite
Dose Calculation Manual), Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program
REMP/RETS, and effluent monitoring programs. ---The selected individual
position must remain cognizant and knowledgeable of associated
environmental regulations/permits/approvals/notifications for nuclear
power plant citing issues and for subsequent construction and power
operation.

Comments ---As a lead level position, this lead environmental specialist
provides technical leadership within the project, and will also assume a
lead role in directing the industry resolution of specific AP1000
environmental/citing issues (examples: off-site dose methodology, CWA 316b
Phase II rules, interface with ongoing License renewal activities, etc.)
within the industry. In this capacity, this lead level position will
function as a spokesperson in industry and regulatory (NRC) forums on the
specific AP1000 environmental citing issues. This lead will work on behalf
of the nuclear power industry in resolving environmental citing issues
that affect the entire AP1000 fleet across multiple utilities. Location:
This position is functionally based in Raleigh, North Carolina, but there
may be travel to the proposed new nuclear sites (Harris and Levy, FL) ,
and to various industry forums.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-Bachelor's
degree (ex. Masters' or professional school equivalent). Nine or more
years experience in environmental support for power generation. Nuclear
plant experience desired. EEO Statement:

requires a Bachelor's degree and 7+ years like-work experience. Four years
of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, or
combination of education and like-work experience totaling 11+ years. *we
