Electric Distribution Design Engineer
Location: North Charleston, SC
ST Pay Rate: up to $87.00 (1.5 for OT)
Start: May 5, 2024
Duration: One year w/ extension possible
Hours: Office hours are 7am - 4pm. We have flexibility with hours between 6am and 6pm.
Work Location: Candidate MUST be local or able to drive in candidate as they could be on site at least 3-4 days a week. Routine visits from office to job sites in the downtown Charleston area are required.

Required Education and Certifications / Licenses: Engineering or technical design background preferred. Project management from design through construction preferred.

Experience managing construction projects involving technical engineering

Nice to Have Skills:
Experience managing a full lifecycle project from design to construction through to completion
Experience interacting with customers in the course of developing a design and then coordinating construction impacts with those customers once design goes to construction.

Job Summary
This role works with a cross-functional team of design technicians, design engineers, union represented craft employees, contract construction resources, schedulers, suppliers, and interfaces frequently with customers.

Responsibilities include:
Provide engineering support in electric distribution operations, maintenance and construction
Perform engineering calculations, analysis, research and design.
Coordinate with developers and customers to evaluate requests for new electric service and develop electric distribution designs to install electric infrastructure to provide customers with power.
Coordinate the procurement of all material to construct projects.
Evaluate designs for permit needs and apply for and manage permit process throughout project lifecycle.
Interface with construction resources to coordinate construction scheduling
Manage projects throughout construction and serve as a resource for construction crews as questions arise.
Perform engineering as-builts once construction is complete. Update drawings and associated applications to ensure accurate modeling of the electric distributions system.
Post material used during the course of construction and manage inventory quantities.

Preferred Years of Experience:
5+ years of directly related industry experience in the field of construction or engineering

Education:
Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education
Other Education: Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management

Preferred companies/industries experience:
Candidate must have utilities industry experience
