Location : GE Facility - Wilmington, NC
Start Date: May 13, 2024
Duration : Approximately 10 Weeks – Potential for extension

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced D&D Technician to support our nuclear operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various decontamination and decommissioning tasks, including decontamination of equipment, dismantling of structures, and handling and packaging of radioactive materials. The candidate must be knowledgeable in nuclear safety and radiological controls and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:
• Perform decontamination and decommissioning tasks in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
• Work with team members to dismantle and remove structures and equipment, including the handling and packaging of radioactive materials.
• Monitor radiation levels and implement radiological controls to ensure safety for all personnel.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment and instruments used in decontamination and decommissioning activities.
• Assist in the preparation of work plans, procedures, and reports related to decontamination and decommissioning activities.
• Participate in safety meetings and inspections and implement corrective actions as required.
• Adhere to all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in decontamination and decommissioning activities, preferably in a nuclear environment.
• Strong knowledge of radiological controls and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedures.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in a nuclear environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Physical Demands:
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50 pounds and working in confined spaces.
• Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 100 feet.
