Contract / Temp to Perm / Permanent: Contract
Startup Maintenance Engineer - Bedford, KY Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application and substantial adaptation of operations and startup techniques. Devises new approaches to operations problems. Provides startup, maintenance, operation or testing direction to subordinate senior startup engineers, engineers, technicians, crafts or others as assigned for specific projects or tasks. Broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent related work experience Prior experience in maintenance systems / facilities
Preferred: Prior experience in maintenance, precommissioning, commissioning, and startup of Utility Plant systems / facilities Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of Operations and maintenance for a project, including reviews of designs for plant operability and safety. Perform work that involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional methods, or difficult coordination requirements. Assist with the preparation of operations and maintenance manuals. Plan, guide, or prepare project administrative and technical documents as required for startup, maintenance, operation, or testing. Coordinate Maintenance between construction startup and Owner specialty staff groups, clients, and vendors. Assume a lead role over other engineers for specific tasks as assigned. Direct overall Maintenance activities on specific assignments. Train assigned personnel and assists them in their professional development.
Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs maintenance activities for the assigned project. Provides maintenance supervision or assistance at the jobsite as assigned. Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs contract required maintenance baseline information programs and input Establishes maintenance activity input and records into the project specified maintenance management system for turnover to Owner Participates in budget forecast preparation activities as required. Prepares or directs the preparation of maintenance work plans. Prepares turnover documentation in regards to Client maintenance scope Coordinates with Owner maintenance resources to ensure maintenance activities and documentation support the Owner contractual requirements. Ensures that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget. Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished. Reviews and approves key maintenance methods, procedures, and schedules on assigned project(s). Performs performance reviews for personnel supervised and provides appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
Power Plant Technologies - A basic understanding of various power cycles and combinations, and various fuels used for generating electricity. These include but are not limited to Combined Cycle Gas Turbine/Heat Recovery Steam Generator plan, Oil Fired and/or Coal Fired Boilers (Pulverized Coal, Fluidized Bed, and/or Supercritical).
General Mechanical Equipment & Systems - This position will require at least basic familiarity and skill proficiency with various mechanical equipment and systems including but not limited to; Large Industrial Equipment such as Steam Turbines, Diesels, Pumps, Heat exchangers and Pulverized Coal Fired Boilers. - Material Handling Systems - Air Quality Control Systems - HVAC Equipment
Writing - Candidate should possess strong skills in order to write testing and commissioning procedures and efficient communications documents, and maintain daily logs, maintenance records and test records.
