Job Summary:  
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for a Control Room Operator to support a 242-MW coal fired plant located in northern Nevada.  The Control Room Operator will play a key role providing power plant control and operation, on the job training, mentoring, leadership, and cross-training of Auxiliary Operators that are progressing toward the Control Room position. The Control Room Operator will report to the Control Room Supervisor and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of steam boilers, steam turbine generating units, coal handling and auxiliary equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Must be proficient in power plant systems and be able to train others.  
•    Performs pre-shift, pre-op and workplace inspections/checks as required.
•    Recognizes equipment or systems operating outside of normal ranges.
•    Keeps communication with Control Room Supervisor current, allowing CRS to report status of all plant equipment as needed. 
•    Effectively and efficiently assist Plant Control Room Supervisor in the Control Room.
•    Has thorough general knowledge of power plant procedures, will learn and adhere to site-specific procedures.
•    Ability to troubleshoot and operate backend equipment of the plant and write work requests as needed.
•    Proficient in the operation and execution of the plants Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
•    Communicate all pertinent information during shift relief.
•    Adhere to good housekeeping practices.

Job Requirements:
•    State of the Art Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS) with (D-EHC) digital electrohydraulic controlled turbine generators.
•    Adhere to plant site safety systems (OSHA site)
•    242-Megawatt Toshiba steam turbine generator and auxiliaries.
•    Steam generating B&W boiler PRB fuel drum type and associated auxiliary equipment. 
•    Water pumping systems and rest of balance of plant.
•    Water treatment systems: boiler demineralized water system, cooling tower, side stream water softening equipment and wastewater to the evaporation pond systems.
•    Environmental systems: Air quality control system, SCR flue gas NOx removal, Spray Dryer Absorber (SDA) for SO2 removal, mercury removal system and Baghouse for matter removal in flue gas.
•    Proficiency in operating and maintaining a state-of-the-art Emerson Ovation Distributed Control System (DCS) with (D-EHC) digital electrohydraulic controlled turbine generators.
•    Thorough understanding and adherence to plant site safety systems in accordance with OSHA regulations.
•    Experience with the operation and maintenance of a 242-Megawatt Toshiba steam turbine generator and its auxiliaries.
•    Familiarity with steam generating B&W boiler PRB fuel drum type and associated auxiliary equipment.
•    Knowledge of water pumping systems and other balance of plant components.
•    Competence in managing water treatment systems, including boiler demineralized water system, cooling tower, side stream water softening equipment, and wastewater to the evaporation pond systems.
•    Understanding of environmental systems such as Air quality control system, SCR flue gas NOx removal, Spray Dryer Absorber (SDA) for SO2 removal, mercury removal system, and Baghouse for matter removal in flue gas.

Physical Requirements:
•    Are there any physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving.
•    Define the work environment: temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.

Education / Experience:
•    3 years previous operator work experience in a power plant.
•    Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
•    Ability to work a rotating schedule of nights and days is an essential function of this role.
