[Shipfitter] Shipfitter Needed!

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Lays out and fabricates structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position during construction of vessel or ship for welding.
- Lays out and cuts parts for assembly working from blueprints, templates, or oral instructions.
- Cutting is done primarily with hand torch, but can also use metal saw, metal shear, or plasma cutter. Parts for assembly can also come pre-cut.
- Scheduled workdays cover Monday thru Friday. Weekends and holidays as required.
- Works in all kinds of weather. Maybe required to perform work at remote locations other than at shipyard facility. May be required to perform work alone in confined spaces.
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Subject to ultra violet light, electrical hazards, vibration, noise, and a variety of other physical conditions such as a proximity to moving mechanical parts, working on scaffolding and ladders at heights greater than 6 ft., working over water, and subject to very dramatic temperature changes, such as when entering or exiting a tank. Also present are fumes, smoke, dust, gases, chemicals and hydrocarbons.
- Protective clothing, hearing and eye protection, hardhats, safety shoes or boots (Steel), and respiratory protection are to be worn accordingly.
- Essential Job Functions (listing most important first):
- Locates and marks reference lines, such as center and frame lines.
- Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, come a longs, clamps, clips, wedges, and mauls.
- Marks locations for holes that are to be drilled.
- Installs packing, gaskets, liners, bearings, and other structural accessories, such as doors, hatches, brackets, shafts, wheels, rudders, coolers, anodes, and bumper systems.
- May tack weld clips or brackets in place prior to completion of work.
- Removes and realigns engines and transmissions in marine vessels.
- May use portable power tools such as grinders, chippers, drills, saws, sanders, etc.
- May roll, bend, flange, cut and shape plates, beams and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, metal shear, press brake and drill press.
- Performs incidental tasks such as transporting tools, materials, and parts. Use overhead cranes, drill holes, etc. May also operate company vehicles.

Education and Vocational:
- Must be able to read and write alphabetically and numerically.
- Must be able to pass company specified layout, cutting and burn test.
- Must be able to provide verifiable references of past work history

Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive sequences that require balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, seeing, hearing, speaking, and an acute sense of smell.
- This position is classified as heavy work exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for medium work.

Pay ranging at $24-$28/ hour
