This is the job description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•On a task basis, is responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, calculations, and specifications.
•Coordinates preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
•Must have basic understanding of all drawing types required for a project, understanding their purpose, inter-relationship with other sets of deliverables, method of generation, and cost to produce.
•Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
•Responsible for adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects.
•Responsible for identifying out-of-scope items on projects and generating Project Deviation Notices as required to obtain approval for scope changes as required.
•Familiar with procedures and complies with procedural requirements for document/deliverable generation (e.g., review, checking, transmittal, etc.).
•May occasionally assist more senior engineers/designers in supervising, scheduling, and checking work of project team members.
•Has limited client contact at staff level.
•Performs other duties assigned by a Principal or Project Engineer as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

•Ability to identify, analyze, and solve routine technical problems related to specialty area.

•Possess aptitude for computing and design.

•Possess good verbal and written communication skills.

•Possess good interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.

•Possess willingness to accept responsibility.

•Possess willingness to adhere to and customer safety requirements.

•Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite and software used for specific technical applications within the department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:

•Position requires a four-year technical degree in engineering and a minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience.
•Professional registration is desirable for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

•Normal office environment with occasional field trips to plant sites requiring ability to walk and climb stairs or ladders in a plant or industrial environment occasionally requiring occasional overnight (or longer) stays.
