The experience level should be at least one year in relay protection; five years is preferable. The engineers' responsibilities will consist of the following: Design relay protection systems for transmission, distribution, generation, and motor circuits. The relay systems will utilize both electro-mechanical and microprocessor-based relays. o Design communication systems for relay protection. Review one-line and schematic drawings for relay protection systems. Participate in substation field walks and project meetings. Perform short-circuit studies and relay coordination studies. Calculate and issue protective relay settings, including microprocessor relay files. Develop descriptive documents regarding relay protection systems, for use by operating personnel.
