R/F Communications System Lead Engineer

Pittsburgh, PA

System One Services is currently looking for R/F Communications System Lead Engineer for the Peregrine lunar lander, which was selected by NASA to return America to the Moon. The R/F Communication System Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading and architecting the RF communications subsystem, maturing current design, assessing risk and reliability, and working with other subsystem leads to maintain system compatibility

R/F Communications System Lead Engineer will be responsible for:

Oversee all telecommunications components, from ground station selection and operations, RF testing and integration, and payload communications
Coordinate between technical partners, vendors, and other subsystem leads to assess design progress, schedule, and risks
Provide mission operations support, and write and present technical reports
Implement the full systems engineering development cycle, and regularly report to the Mission Director and Systems Engineering team on progress.
Cost and schedule estimating, planning and control through all phases of assigned projects from the proposal to the close-out.
Leading the development of spacecraft RF Comms systems through design, development, testing, verification and flight operations
Leading small technical teams
Applying full life-cycle systems management, including requirements development and traceability
Performing link budget analysis
RF testing, ground station compatibility and integration testing
Leading engineering model and flight unit test planning, scheduling and implementation
Developing and managing schedules
Implementing risk management processes
Developing internal and external technical reports and delivering formal presentations

R/F Communications System Lead Engineer qualifications:

Master Degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in spacecraft comms systems development
Prototype languages such as Matlab/Octave
Orbit determination tools like ODTK or STK
Experience developing subcontractor and vendor specifications and SOWs, and managing subcontractor performance
Knowledgeable of Range Safety and Ground Safety compliance
Knowledge of space environmental tests
Experience defining and building infrastructure within a small or large business environment
