This full-time position is based out of Titusville, FL at the NASA KSC, FL. The position serves as a senior level electrical engineer with no less than 8 years of electrical engineering design experience. The primary responsibility for this position is to perform design analysis, calculations, and consultation for electrical systems (e.g., power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding & lightening protection). An emphasis on National Electric Code as well as other NFPA Codes and Standards. Other areas of specific experience are: design of low and medium voltage systems up to 15KV.
Perform calculations / analyses verifying compliance to National Electric Code including electrical loads and lighting calculations
Providing consultation regarding Code compliance for electrical systems.
Specifying electrical system devices and components; as-built system drawings; and the development of drawings for each system, as directed.
Aerospace environment systems design for fabrication and/or construction
Other support and lead role duties as assigned by project management staff.
Prepare and maintain project schedules.
Work with vendors in the identification and specification of devices and components for electrical systems
Create facility electrical system design plans from engineering concepts
Perform field investigations, evaluations, and system verification & validations
Writing reports and specifications; including construction documents, plans, schedules and cost estimates.
Supervising junior staff of designers to develop electrical construction drawings
Work as a Team.
Required Skills and Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering REQUIRED, EIT or PE preferred.
Experience in the areas of electrical load calculations, and lighting design, low voltage and medium voltage system design and equipment selection
Must have experience/proficiency with design software such as CREO and AutoCAD MEP (Revit preferred) as well as basic MS Office tools.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be competent in producing reports and developing specifications
Understanding of electrical systems devices. Must be able to identify each of these devices along with their schematic symbols, drawing methodology, and formats.
Willingness to learn and keep abreast of new information relating to electrical design issues.
Must be able to obtain a DOD security clearance
Must be a US Citizen
Must have a valid Drivers License
Must be able to pass a NASA drug screen
Must be able to work in an industrial environment, wear appropriate PPE, and carry 25 pounds unaided up a flight of stairs.
