Structural Analysis Engineer – Level 3 – Huntsville, AL
Candidates must have an active Secret Clearance or have had an active Secret Clearance within the last two years.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens without Dual Citizenship
Assignment Duration: 6 month contract to start
80% Perform structural modeling of solid rocket motor components:
Develop closed form solutions to structurally analyze joints and preliminary size components for pressure, thrust and thermal gradient boundary conditions.
Materials are a combination of isotropic, viscoelastic, composite structure and propellant.
Thermal gradients and pressure distributions, as well as specified mechanical loads for these models, are provided by other analysis team members.
The successful candidate will have the ability to support multiple programs simultaneously and work independently within a product team.
Use solid CAD models provided by other team members to generate FEA meshes in ANSYS, or ABAQUS.
A background in nonlinear, transient, thermos-structural analysis of non-metallic materials is strongly desirable.
Thermal, dynamic, shock and transient operating pressures will be used in these models.
Experience with structural dynamic analysis for random vibration and shock is a plus.
Perform static and quasi-static structural analyses and assess operating margins.
Develop and modify macros and programing to run and post process duty cycle loads Generate and provide analysis reports and presentation materials to analysis team and customers documenting FEM and analysis results.
Good written and oral communication skills are required.
10% - Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews.
10% - Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities.
Demonstrated experience performing linear, non-linear and structural dynamic analyses of non-metallics to support design, development and production qualification of new or updated products is required.
Experience in finite element modelling of hyper-elastic or viscoelastic materials is a plus.
Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS or ABAQUS is required.
Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired.
Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics. At least 5 years of engineering experience with structural analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's degree is preferred.
Must Have an engineering degree – either Structural or a Civil Engineer Degree (with Structural background / experience) is okay
Must have Design experience
Open to candidates with or without a license
There is flexibility on Project Management experience – it is preferred
