PMQS – Project Quality Management Quality Services has a great opportunity for experienced Inside Machinists / Large Equipment Operators in Newport News, Virginia.

Pay Rate: $37.50/hour
Per Diem: $120/day for qualified non-local candidates
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Duration: 2 Years
U.S. Citizenship: Required
Background Check & Hair Follicle Drug Test: Required

Position Description
Inside Machinists will operate manual and/or NC machines to fabricate parts utilized for ship and submarine building.

Equipment may include:

Lathes
Mills
Horizontal and Vertical Machining Centers
Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs)
Vertical Turning Centers (VTCs)
EDMs
Drill Presses
Surface Grinders
Candidates must be able to perform precision machining operations, read blueprints, machine threads, and cut tapered shafts.

Required Experience
Minimum 6 years of Inside Machine Shop experience
Experience operating large Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs)
HBM experience with machines having travel ranges approximately X – 500", Y – 250", Z – 50", and W – 65"
Experience with HBM turntables approximately 10' square with load capacities up to 100 tons
Experience operating Vertical Turning Centers (VTCs)
VTC experience with tables approximately 80" in diameter with a 20-ton table capacity, approximately 160" X travel and 80" Z travel
Machinist or Tool & Die Apprenticeship experience
Required Skills
Familiar with Numerical Controlled (NC) processes
Manual Data Input (MDI)
Tooling offsets
Conversational controllers
Ability to operate manual and/or NC machines, including lathes, mills, horizontal and vertical machining centers, and EDMs
Experience with controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic, and Cincinnati-Milacron
Experience using precision measuring instruments, including outside/inside micrometers, depth micrometers, and verniers
Familiar with threading and various measuring/gauging requirements
Experience with drilling and tapping processes
Familiar with carbide machining processes
Ability to comprehend complex mechanical drawings and blueprints
Ability to machine threads and cut tapered shafts
Additional Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must pass a background check
Must pass a hair follicle drug test prior to employment
