Location: Newport News, VA
Pay Rate: $20.66–$27.31 per hour
Per Diem: $140/day for eligible non-local candidates
Contract Duration: 2 Years
Shift: Flexibility required, including overtime and weekends as needed

JOB DESCRIPTION

PMQS – Project Management Quality Services is seeking experienced **Heavy Equipment Operators for long-term assignments in Newport News, Virginia.

Qualified candidates must have hands-on experience operating excavation equipment, including backhoes and excavators, as well as experience driving and operating dump trucks. Operators will perform excavation, earthmoving, material handling, and other heavy equipment operations in an industrial shipyard environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Operate backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Perform excavation and earthmoving activities in areas containing multiple underground utilities.
- Safely maneuver equipment in active industrial and construction environments.
- Inspect equipment and maintain safe operating practices.
- Follow job specifications and maintain high standards of safety and workmanship.
- Perform outdoor manual labor and assist with other job-site duties as assigned.
- Work overtime and weekends when required by production needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- Hands-on experience operating backhoes and/or excavators required.**
- Experience driving and operating dump trucks required.**
- Experience excavating around underground utilities.
- Heavy equipment trade school training preferred; equivalent on-the-job training accepted.
- Good driving record.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and industrial environments.
- Must be flexible with shifts, overtime, and weekend assignments.
- U.S. citizenship required.**
- Must pass a background check and hair follicle drug test.
