Responsible for technical direction, training, & logistical support of one or more Plant Draftsmen including (a) scheduling of work & assignment of projects, (b) checking of work for progress, conformance to standards & procedures, and content where applicable, (c) maintaining Drafting Room records & preparation of work progress reports, (d) incorporating new policies and procedures, and (e) cataloging & storage of all Corporate Engineering tracings, foreign prints, & equipment books.
Checks compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations as assigned.
Prepares piping & storage schematics, departmental standard drawings, process flow sheets & piping & instrumentation diagrams for all Gas Supply production & storage facilities & selected portions of WG & subsidiaries major & minor gate station facilities. Scope of drawings varies from composite station presentation to detailed portions of process or service systems (such as process air or gas, propane, fuel gas, steam, starting air, cathodic protection, odorant, control loops, etc.)
Prepares or revises to as-built condition, detailed construction drawings & bills of material for additions, revisions, or new facility construction, including property, structural, piping, equipment, electrical, & instrumentation phases. Takes field notes as required.
Makes field trips as required by above duties, including overnight travel outside of approximately 4 times per month.
Field work may be outside in inclement weather. Operating machinery. Noise.
Occasional work in natural gas or propane hazardous locations.
Maintains working knowledge of Drafting & Construction policies & procedures.
Normal care of drafting, computing & photographic equipment, plus, all assigned foreign prints, tracings, equipment books, & drafting room records.
Position requires continual mental & visual concentration for drafting, checking, job scheduling, record keeping, logistics, etc.
Field and test duties require climbing on and under mechanical equipment, piping & structures, carrying work equipment & occasionally working long shifts.
High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
Knowledge of engineering drafting practices pertaining to piping, structural, electrical & instrumentation, plus surveying & mathematics at second year college level.
Vehicle operator's permit required.
A minimum of 7 years prior experience in the preparation of general gas plant & construction drawings
Proficient with AutoCAD 2000 or above.
Computer literacy with Microsoft products.
