The Computer System Analyst - Network will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and operating the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure supporting IT services and applications across the Hanford site to ensure enterprise level performance, availability and security.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Network administration responsibilities.
- Provide Tier-2 troubleshooting support, working with the user support team and the
operations staff to effectively manage and communicate issues and perform problem
analysis to resolution on a 24/7 schedule. As such, lead problem-solving efforts often
involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations of core, distribution, and access layer
switching equipment (routers, gateways, switches)
- Maintain documentation of network transport, distribution and access layer site
Technical/trade school degree/certification geared towards Information Technology -
WAN/LAN and/or 4 years' experience in IT - WAN/LAN.
Proficient knowledge of IP networking fundamentals.
Ability to design, develop, document, test, and field networking capabilities incorporating
security and remote administration.
One year experience in network switching and routing.
One year experience with Cisco network hardware and tools.
Ability to provide support during non-standard business hours and be on call 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week as needed or as scheduled.
Ability to communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing.
Attention to detail and strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize
and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
BA/BS degree geared towards Information Technology - WAN/LAN and/or 8 years'
experience in IT - WAN/LAN.
Familiarity with the HLAN enterprise network, server and desktop environment.
Strong knowledge of VoIP technologies.
Experience in Firewall administration.
Experience in producing design documentation in Microsoft Visio.
Knowledge and experience with indoor and outdoor wireless (802.11, WiMAX, Point-to-
Point Microwave); preferably with Cisco, Meru and Redline experience.
Knowledge of MSA and Hanford Site policies, procedures, and processes.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
