GRSi is currently supporting the Intramural Research Program (IRP) within the National Institute on Aging (NIA) which plays a central role in providing and supporting the resources needed to further the biomedical research mission of the institute. This program is supported by GRSi as we provide the software and hardware support functions for which all the user research and technical data is derived, moved and stored.
∑ Hardware deployment, selection, configuration and lifecycle management for desktop and laptop systems
∑ Install, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and manage all desktop software. Support IT mission with security agent installations, management tool installations and enforcement of IT policies
∑ Remediate vulnerabilities identified by security
∑ Install, maintain and troubleshoot lab owned printers
∑ Work with IT management to balance IT needs with lab requirements for scientific research
∑ Provide end to end primary support for NIA star lab desktop and bench computer resources roughly 60/40 split PC and Mac
∑ Utilize Mac MDM and Windows imaging tools to configure machines in accordance with IT standards.
∑ Support NIA NIH IRP specific software, such as but not limited to, citation managers, scientific graphing programs, technical illustration and imaging programs, statistical processing programs and terminal emulators, laboratory specific instrument software. (Experience with: Office 365, Skype, SharePoint, CAC card authentication, VPN, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc)
∑ Create, delete, and manage user accounts in Active Directory; conduct user data restoration from enterprise backup; perform general help desk tasks.
∑ Assist with rollout of mobile management platform and troubleshooting issues with that for iOS primarily, and some Android.
∑ Proactively identify IT issues in the environment and work with decision makers to solve these issues.
∑ Assist in the ordering and receiving of IT related supplies
∑ Bachelorís degree in Computer Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline.
∑ Previous NIH experience with IT support
∑ Minimum of two (4) years of experience in desktop support or other related field.
∑ Valid state driverís license.
∑ Knowledge of all Windows and Macintosh operating systems and workstations using Linux and Unix.
∑ Knowledge of scientific computing systems
∑ Well rounded technology experience ideally including consulting experience, and or desktop engineering
∑ Tier 2-3 support experience
∑ Knowledge of federal information technology policies and regulations.
∑ Prior experience with tools like BigFix for managing PCs and JAMF for managing Macs
∑ Familiarity with systems like AWS and Google Compute
∑ Relevant IT certifications
∑ One or more certification desired
o JAMF certs (insert here)
o Some form of PC equivalent of a JAMF cert
