[IT/Communications Manager] Oracle Database Administrator

The Oracle DBA shall participate in the installation, configuration, and support of Oracle database software products as necessary to integrate them into the Site’s computing environment. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The role will require constant interaction with other database administrators on the team and will require project management skills to develop and maintain a robust, scalable, and performant database infrastructure system at Savannah River Site (SRS). Begin to plan and develop IT solutions to technical task or project objectives. Provide tactical design, engineering, technical specifications, project coordination, and configuration management for complex IT solutions. Assist more senior technical personnel in performing activities in more complex tasks and begin to provide guidance and technical expertise to junior personnel. Systems may consist of servers, desktops, storage devices, data center components, utility software, or equivalent infrastructure components.  Comply with team processes and practices for execution of assigned tasks and perform all duties and activities in a safe and ethical manner.

 

Oracle Database Administration and Support

Provide technical expertise and support for Oracle12c/Oracle19c database environments.
Demonstrate experience with database management features/utilities (RAC, datapump, RMAN, Parallel query)
Data modeling and database design
Database schema creation and management
Backup and recovery
Ensuring data integrity
Performance management and tuning
Ensuring availability
Instance and database security
Knowledgeable with LINUX Redhat R7 and UNIX Sun Solaris
Maintain technical expertise in assigned emphasis areas and demonstrate flexibility in multiple disciplines.
Complete assigned administrative tasks in a timely and quality fashion.
Proactively communicate and coordinate with others across IT to provide support for assigned areas.
Incorporate conventional systems engineering practices into problem solving and program planning. Perform detailed system hardware/software troubleshooting.
Define specific problems based on general problem information from management and/or customers. Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments and sections to focus areas and solve problems.
Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product developed and designed to resolve the original problem.
Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness.
Maintain system security through access monitoring, control and evaluation.
Maintaining documentation and configuration information.
Shift schedule is determined by job assignment and may include off hours schedule.

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrate technical expertise and support for Oracle12c/Oracle19c database environments
Demonstrate experience with database management features/utilities (RAC, datapump, RMAN, Parallel query)

Demonstrate the ability to maintain system security through access monitoring, control, evaluation, documentation, and configuration information.

Education

4-year degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 7 years proven performance in related assignments; or a non-related degree with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or an Associate Degree in IT related discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or a non-related Associate Degree with 11 years proven performance in related assignment(s). In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with typically at least 13 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.
