Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Project Controls Specialist (P6 & Cobra) opportunity to support our customer at the WIPP Facility outside of Carlsbad, NM.
Per diem is available for those who qualify.
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense-generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.
Job Responsibilities
Obtains required schedule information by all disciplines/functions.
Identifies restraints and effects on the total project schedule.
Coordinates with all departments to ensure understanding of total project schedule needs.
Responsible for total integration of schedule activities.
Identifies schedule considerations and problems resulting from inter-discipline or functional restraints and interfaces.
Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance of the total project.
Conducts project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine the criticality of schedule activities.
Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.
Responsible for leading, when requested, the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources/costs required to affect such plans.
Monitors cost recording, monitoring, and reporting practices for compliance with applicable standards.
Responsible for the development and accuracy of cost reports. Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.
Responsible for cost engineering and cost analysis/control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for discipline/projects/proposal cost activities that require a high degree of technical skilled experience.
Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering guidance to area & functions.
Mentoring of junior PCEs in data/graphical analysis.
Minimum Requirements:
Basic knowledge of Primavera P6 and COBRA software applications.
Advanced level of proficiency in using PC operating systems and software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office.
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Upon reporting, must be able to complete and pass a medical evaluation for badging purposes. Must have full mobility, be able to walk on uneven or broken surfaces (rocks, gravel, etc.). The examination includes, but is not limited to ability to pass blood pressure test, able to bend, twist, pull, push, climb, and lift more than 20 lbs.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the site.
Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Strong data/statistical analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific applications (Cobra, Primavera, EcoSys, etc.).
Advanced knowledge using power BI.
Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
Demonstrated skill in identifying and analyzing issues and recommending corrective actions.
