Edgewater is seeking qualified candidates for a Network Systems Tec 4 opportunity for our customer in Los Alamos, NM to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Work Location: 100% Onsite, Ta60-175
Work Schedule: 5-8s
Organization/Group: NIE-TS (9WTS0A)
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain “Q.”
Positions Available: 2

Education:
Position requires a high school diploma and four-to-six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including associate degrees and graduation from technical institutions.

Summary:
Manages the performance and profile of networked computer systems in support of programmatic activities. Provides technical assistance to computer system users. Assures computer system configurations conform to Institutional security requirements.

The senior network systems technician has complete understanding and wide application experience with technical principle, theories, and concepts related to their field. Applies extensive knowledge and skills to complete specialized tasks and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Assignments may be broad or narrowly focused. Impact is usually limited to a well-defined area of a project or specific assignment and may have some impact on the outcome of entire project or group accomplishments. Performs normal aspects of the job with little or no direct supervision. Work is occasionally reviewed for soundness of judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Contributions of original work are expected.

Requirements:
This position will require physical movement and lifting of layer 2 network switches, daily.
Each switch weighs upwards of 20# and you will be required to remove the existing switch and replace it with a new switch.
Hydras, which is a bundle of Ethernet cables may range up to, but now exceed 25 pounds and they must be placed and positioned per specs, then installer much verify connections are good/green.
You will be required to unpackage new hardware and upgrade the software while placing a basic configuration on the switches.
You will load and unload a van, SUV, or truck with new and old hardware.
Lastly, you will be responsible for cleanup, proper disposal of hardware, and navigating various areas of the laboratory.
