Job Title: Principal Software Engineer (Data Science Focus)
Duration: 1 year with 2 option periods
Location: Aiken, South Carolina - 100% Onsite (local candidates or willing to relocate at candidate's expense)

Short Summary about Job:
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with Data Science expertise to define scope of IT programs, develop quality solutions, and provide leadership in implementing complex information systems and database infrastructure initiatives. This role focuses on Microsoft Power Platform development (Power Apps, Power BI) and SharePoint Administration, mining valuable insights from data to support organizational decision-making, regulatory reporting, and visual representations. The position requires maintaining cyber posture and compliance for federal authority to operate while working with minimal supervision on a 40-hour work week (various schedules available: 5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s).
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in IT-related discipline (Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 7 years proven performance; OR non-related bachelor's with 9 years; OR Associate degree in IT-related discipline with 9 years; OR non-related associate degree with 11 years; OR high school diploma with 13+ years equivalent experience
Knowledge of academic and practical aspects of Software Engineering with ongoing technical development required
Proven advanced technical knowledge of computer languages, software development fundamentals/methodology, and database infrastructure
Demonstrated programming skills including analyzing information, software design, requirements, testing, documentation, problem solving, debugging, and software development fundamentals/methodology
Proficiency in developing complex software and database designs
Mastery of software engineering tools (configuration management systems, change management, vulnerability scanning, debuggers)
Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision, manage time for unplanned assignments, and adapt to changing priorities
Extensive experience in Microsoft Power Apps Development, Microsoft Power BI Development, and SharePoint Administration
Proficiency in designing, developing, and implementing custom business applications using Microsoft Power Apps to improve operational efficiency
Expertise utilizing Power BI to transform data into meaningful insights through interactive reports and dashboards
SharePoint Administration expertise to manage and maintain SharePoint environments
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Area Security Access: Clearance "Q" required. Subcontractor must have active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA

Miscellaneous/Additional Information:
Key Responsibilities:
Define scope of IT programs and develop effective quality solutions
Direct and mentor less senior professionals
Lead large initiatives, cross-functional IT teams, and establish tasks, priorities, milestones, and cost estimates
Perform root cause analysis and outline corrective action plans
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses
Mine valuable insights from data and convert data inquiries into structured analytical datasets
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards
Maintain cyber posture and federal authority to operate compliance
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week with flexible options (5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s); excludes site holidays with 30-minute lunch; overtime expected at manager's discretion
Estimated Hours: 2,080 standard hours + approximately 200 overtime hours per year
