Our Client is looking for an Electrical Engineer with 10+ years of experience. You will have the opportunity to use your design skills on exciting and challenging projects. You will have the chance to mentor junior engineers and designers and at the same time you'll be working with top engineers in the field to gain additional expertise in your field. You will be involved with innovative Power Distribution and Lighting design on a variety of challenging projects including Education, industrial, commercial, institutional, and federal facilities.
· Design building electrical systems, including power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, security, and telecommunication systems
· Evaluate existing electrical systems and provide recommendations with associated cost estimates
· Prepare contract documents, including drawings, cost estimates, technical specifications, and other relevant documents
· Visit job sites for documentation, inspections, and progress evaluations
· Review shop drawings and designs for code compliance
· Perform lighting calculations and develop appropriate layouts
· Acts as Lead Engineer on specific projects or portions of projects as assigned, manages mid and junior level electrical staff on projects
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years related experience in the design of electrical systems for building/facilities; experience working for an engineering or architectural/engineering consulting firm is strongly desired
Experience in the K-12 Educational field is desired
Professional Engineering License (PE) in NY State required
Proficient in AutoCAD with working knowledge of Word and Excel; Revit experience a plus
Must be knowledgeable of building codes and state agency procedures
Must have through understanding of construction documents, including both drawings and technical specifications
Experienced with managing electrical team on projects
Experience with electrical power, communication, fire alarm and lighting design for projects of varying complexity
Preparing, reviewing, or modifying one-line diagrams, electrical floor plans, schedules, and detail sheets
Coordinating electrical equipment lists with mechanical and civil disciplines
Preparing project-specific technical specifications
Performing electrical calculations and power systems analysis
Meeting project schedules and preforming work within budgetary constraints
Assisting in the preparation of status reports, cost opinions, basis-of-design descriptions, project manuals, responses to client comments, technical memorandums , and other project-related documentation
Performing site investigations
Reviewing shop drawing submittals and assisting with general construction services
Mentoring junior engineers who are assisting on assigned work
Performing other duties as assigned
