Swanson Flo - Permanent Position

Swanson Flo is a leading supplier and service provider of valves, actuation, and instrumentation to industrial and municipalities (water/wastewater) companies across the Midwest. Due to the continuing increase in demand for our service and repair capabilities, we are currently looking to expand our service department in the Chicago area to service northern Illinois and the surrounding states.

Position Description –Service Technician: Valve/Actuation/Instrumentation/MOV/AOV

• The position is a permanent, front-line employee with the ability to evaluate, repair, and assemble valves, actuators, and instrumentation as well as provide start-up and calibration services. At times, there will be direct contact with the customer. Product training will be available. We have found that an interest in auto mechanics is very helpful.

• Primary responsibility is repairing valves, actuators (electric and pneumatic) and instrumentation at a customer’s facility or in the Swanson Flo shop in Addison, IL.
• Responsible for diagnosing customer product problems, proper use of tools and equipment, following on-the-job safety practices, and preparing service reports and other documentation.
• Responsible for trouble-shooting process control equipment; including valve, actuators, and process control instrumentation.
• Calibration of field instruments (level, pressure, temperature, and flow transmitters).
• Ensures that all service to customer equipment is completed efficiently, on time, and correctly according to specifications.
• Maintain a positive image and professional appearance and cultivate positive customer relationships.
• Repairs are commonly completed either at the customer site or in our shop.
• When field service is not scheduled, you will be responsible for working in our Addison shop assisting with shop assemblies as required.

Other Requirements
• Electrical background/aptitude is required; must be able to read a wiring diagrams and knowledge of 3 Phase motor controls a plus.
• Experience in the repair of valves and actuation (MOV/AOV) is a plus.
• Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, controls and setup helpful.
• Strong interest in product technology as well as proven mechanical ability.
• People skills to work effectively with company personnel and customers, and promote excellent customer relationships at all times.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75lbs and be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to obtain safety certifications, pass random drug & alcohol tests and must possess a good driving record.
• Travel requirements are limited but at times from 1 – 5 days in length.
• Machining and welding skills a plus.

Desired Experience
• Control Valves / Positioners – Masoneilan, Fisher, Valtek, Samson, Worcester, Metso, PMV, etc.
• Electric and Pneumatic Actuators – Limitorque, EIM, Rotork, Auma, Bettis, Hytork, El-O-Matic, Morin, Biffi, etc.
• Instrumentation – Foxboro, E&H, Rosemount, Yokagawa, etc.
