The co-op will work closely with other members of the Estimating Department Team to support the pre-construction phase, perform bid, proposal and budget preparation, assist with value engineering for ongoing projects and support subcontractor/vendor relations.
Reports To: Chief Estimator/ Senior VP of Estimating
Status: Full Time, Hourly
• Work as an integral part of our Estimating team to perform plan and specification analysis, takeoff and pricing of road, bridge, marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $5 million to $400 million
• Work with subcontractors and vendors to define scope, and perform subcontractor and vendor analysis
• Assist with all Estimating functions for Lump Sum, Design/Build and Unit Price projects
• Assist with the budgeting, purchasing and cost functions
• Civil Engineering major
• Prior co-op experience in construction preferred
• Strong computer skills
• Experience with Heavybid estimating software preferred
• Experience with computerized takeoff and/or design programs
• Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles
• Ability to function in a fast-paced, challenging environment
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to function well as an integral part of our estimating team
• Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills
• Above average organizational skills
