SUMMARY
The Millwright/Mechanical Technician installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as part of cross functional efforts within the department.

Perform routine inspections and planned maintenance to keep equipment operational.

Walk lines (inspection routes) inspecting equipment and machinery. Assess the equipment condition and operation and carry out appropriate repairs or plans for further care.

Uses senses and training to check machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment according to the work plans.

Write Request for Maintenance Services (RMS) in "TabWare" computerized maintenance
management system, when a problem is identified so planner can decide when repairs can be scheduled. Research job to be done and what prints and parts are necessary to make repairs.
Order parts through expediter and write Request for Maintenance Services (RMS's) for repair.

Inspect parts upon receipt and deliver Request for Maintenance Services (RMS) to planner when all parts have arrived.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Track contractor and crew progress during down turns: inform planner when complete, and close out jobs on down turn.

Attend meetings for down turns, safety and staff meetings.

Plans and performs lockout & provides lockout training as necessary.

Occasionally operates mobile equipment (forklift, JLG, scissor lift, boom lift and cranes) Perform other work as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities, however may be required to lead specific activities or tasks as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of technicians or employees of client.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to flames or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Occasionally operates mobile equipment. Employee must pass a chemical screen test and physical to include a Pulmonary Function Test and be declared fit for duty.
