Position: HVAC Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: MUST BE LOCAL TO DENVER, COLORADO!
Type: 1 Contract with potential to go direct hire
Pay Rate: $50-60/hr. depending upon experience
•Establish mechanical engineering design requirements from client drawings and specifications
•Calculate HVAC, plumbing and small-bore piping system requirements
•Investigate system configuration options, prepare work scope and mechanical equipment specifications
•Size and lay-out mechanical equipment considering access, maintenance and installation;
•Support the estimating and proposals team by preparing preliminary designs and detailed cost estimates for mechanical system
•Coordinate mechanical design with other engineering disciplines to avoid equipment/component clashes
•Evaluate supplier bids for compliance to Innova & client specifications and scopes of work;
•Design, source and evaluate fire suppression systems
•For retrofit projects: evaluate existing systems incorporate new designs to meet performance requirements and project financial budgets
•Source mechanical equipment and contractors, prepare technical specifications for supply and install, provide recommendations for packaged equipment and components, in accordance with company policies
•Conduct site visits to check and validate design installations, provide safe execution plans for installation of mechanical components, troubleshoot systems during commissioning
•Carry out peer reviews of associates and sub-consultant’s work;
•Manage outsourced consulting mechanical engineering contracts for the project (e.g., jurisdictional P.E. review)
•Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
•8 years’ experience in an engineering consulting or design-build organization, including experience working under the IBC, IMC, IFC, NFPA, SMACNA, API Standards, and North American EPC industrial project mechanical specifications.
•Mechanical specification and design of HVAC and plumbing systems, pump skids, fire suppression systems, small storage tanks, small piping systems
•Eligible for Professional member registration with the local state/provincial Engineering association
•Proven technical report and presentation skills – intermediate knowledge of MS Office products – knowledge of SharePoint desirable but not essential
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts
•Demonstrated contract administration and project management skills of a project’s technical design content
