The Arlington, Virginia office of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Lead Traffic Engineer for immediate employment. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an academic or working knowledge in Traffic Engineering, specific to traffic analysis of infrastructure modifications and site development projects.
AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to task lead traffic engineering for one of the most prestigious bridge projects for DC Metro and Northern Virginia.
The successful candidate will have experience in traffic engineering including: Traffic Signal Design; Traffic Control Plans; Signing and Pavement Marking Plans; and Traffic Impact Studies. Candidate will also need the ability to develop and assess design and/or operational alternatives; and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements. Extensive transportation experience working within the DC Metropolitan Area is strongly desired, including direct experience with the Washington, DC Department of Transportation (DDOT).
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform/manage analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data manipulation
Perform/manage traffic and capacity analysis on roadway networks and
Perform capacity analysis on roadway networks
Perform/manage traffic analysis on roadway networks using transportation
Planning/engineering software (HCS. Synchro, etc.)
Prepare written documentation of NEPA/SEQRA/CEQRA Transportation results in support client reviews projects
Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support moving projects into design, or document operational enhancements
Candidate may be required to make professional presentations to client or agency representatives from time to time, and will also interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM
Bachelorís degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related engineering field
10+ years of relevant work experience in traffic design, construction and design build projects
PE License in District of Columbia, Virginia or Maryland
Diverse experience in traffic analysis software (micro-simulation project experience with VISSIM or AIMSUN) in planning and development of traffic roadway and signal analysis
Must have working knowledge and understanding of industry related analyses and development criteria/concepts
Experience in applying criteria and design guidelines/standards (HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE) for infrastructure based studies/projects to identify and evaluate alternatives
Develop documents in Microsoft Office
Work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists
