The Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing work involving the diagnosis and repair of malfunction, as well as preventative maintenance tasks, for diesel engines (passenger vehicles and construction equipment) in addition to hydraulic and electrical systems. Experience with mechanics on heavy equipment or diesel applications. Three years experience required.
•Inspect diesel engine and equipment hydraulic and electrical systems to determine needs for repair or replacement of parts.
•Operate vehicles and heavy equipment to aid in the diagnostic and repair process.
•Repair or adjust parts that do not work properly and replace parts that cannot be fixed.
•Test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies to ensure they are in proper working order.
•Perform preventative maintenance to ensure that equipment is safe for operation.
•Inspect, clean and lubricate all moving parts, as necessary.
•Inspect all systems of equipment or diesel engine and perform preventative maintenance to ensure safe condition for operation.
•Utilize wide range of hand and power tools as well as precision measuring instruments and electrical testing devices.
•Utilize code and reference books as well as computer diagnostic equipment to aid in diagnosis and trouble shooting.
High school diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.
***Ability to travel and work in the field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
•Follow specific directions.

•Evaluate information using measurable standards.
•Apply knowledge of mathematics, mechanics, electricity, equipment and tool operation and other skills as necessary.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and in all types of weather and temperature conditions.
•Manual dexterity, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
•Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching and crouching.
•Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.
•Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
•Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
•Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting/force frequently and up to 10 pounds of lifting/force constantly to move objects.
•Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
