The Senior EHS Manager administers and oversees the environmental, health, and safety programs for a group, division, or region in alignment with company programs and strategies which are aligned with the overall company strategies.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
•Partner with field operations to align goals and resources to integrate corporate EHS strategies in the assigned group/division/region’s business processes and practices.
•Provide technical and administrative direction to on-site EHS personnel; including staffing, orientation, training, development, and evaluation of EHS professionals with the concurrence of project/construction management.
•Oversee group/divisional/regional compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
•Support field operations to effectively manage compliance with client and regulatory standards related to environmental, health, and safety.
•Develop group/divisional/regional initiatives based on corporate company strategies that encourage sustainable EHS programs and practices.
•Periodically visit with client EHS Management to promote feedback and resolve potential issues.
•Represent company in EHS related hearings (OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
•Coordinate and conduct periodic audits to assess EHS performance on projects in the assigned group/division/region.
•Prepare EHS related input (Safety Plans, etc.) for bid proposals and support operational project planning.
•Organize and implement EHS programs for new projects including safety on-boarding, incentive programs, post-accident alcohol and drug testing, and behavior-based safety programs.
•Support EHS metrics for the assigned group/region/division by establishing baselines, tracking performance, and reporting progress to site, group/division/region, and corporate management.
•Provide guidance and direction to EHS management personnel to promote compliance and consistency of project EHS activities, to include Field Execution Meetings, Project Safety Plans, Weekly Safety Meetings, Toolbox Talks, safety awareness initiatives, and emergency action plans. Make recommendations to control or eliminate unsafe conditions in the workplace, injuries and illnesses, and environmental concerns or liabilities.
•Thoroughly investigate group/divisional/regional accidents resulting in death of employees, accidents involving multiple hospitalizations or major property or equipment damage.
•Ensure timely and complete root cause investigation of EHS incidents by the line organization and track timely closure of safety corrective actions.
•Support continuous improvement process to assess safety events, their root causes, and affectivity of corrective actions implemented.
•Attend Project EHS Kick-Off Meetings and actively participate in Project EHS team meetings.
•Support corporate EHS requirements for company subcontractors and promote relationships with key group/divisional/regional subcontractors to insure consistent EHS standards are maintained.
•Implement and promote stop work authority with employees
•Oversee the case management of project incidents and accidents.
•Support corporate case management by ensuring the appropriate area clinics and health facilities are set up prior to project mobilization. Manage project incidents as required.
•Proactively support corporate EHS risk management efforts including Project Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s), and Task Safety Analyses (TSA’s).
•Periodically perform budget review and maintain cost control to support the goals of the group/division/region and Corporate EHS Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health. (Significant additional EHS experience in a leadership role may be considered in lieu of degree.)
•8 or more years of experience in construction EHS management.
•Advanced education and training/certification in safety management such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) and OSHA/MSHA 30 Hour preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
•Broad experience and knowledge of environmental health and safety industry practices.
•Advanced knowledge of construction and/or industrial EHS requirements.
•Thorough understanding and ability to effectively promote compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations.
•Ability to investigate/analyze critical situations in a professional manner.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to positively influence EHS behaviors.
•Proficiency with standard office software. Proficiency in database management, spreadsheet management, project and presentation software
•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; capable of effectively presenting to audiences, large and small.
•Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing environment and new challenges.
•Strong cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
•Strong leadership capabilities to deliver results and to strengthen the EHS culture.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate multiple activities that are moderately to highly complex.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and
all types of weather and temperature conditions. Occasional or frequent air travel with overnight
stays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Manual dexterity, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
•Frequent climbing stairs / ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.
•Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures.
•Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
•Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
•Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting / force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of lifting / force constantly to move objects.
•Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
