The Fire Watch will be responsible for performing tasks involved with monitoring and securing the
safety of individuals performing hot work and confined space work at construction sites. May assist
specialized craft workers as needed.
Monitor coworkers engaged in confined space and/or hot work activities.
Utilize and read sensors, monitors, other devices to maintain the safety of coworkers.
Maintain alertness and safety apparatus, including fire extinguishers, to prevent and control
Maintain knowledge of emergency action plans and safety regulations and guidelines.
High school diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
Read and comprehend safety signs and information.
Recognize dangers and warning signs and react quickly.
Follow regulations, guidelines and plans exactly.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust,
fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and
in all types of weather and temperature conditions.
Manual dexterity, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching and crouching.
Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.
Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory
Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting/force frequently
and up to 10 pounds of lifting/force constantly to move objects.
Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
