JOB SUMMARY:
The Pipe Welder will be responsible for welding fabricated, cast, and forged carbon piping primarily
utilizing the SMAW welding method.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Selects equipment and plans welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal
machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.

Typically utilizing one welding process (SMAW), join pipe sections in a variety of positions and
directions.

Perform socket and butt welds on pipe sections of various diameter and wall thickness.

May position and align pipe for welding.

Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to secure position for welding.

Sets up and monitors welding equipment.

Clean, maintain and repair welding rig and equipment to include hoses, electrodes, switches and wiring.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Work easily and skillfully with hands, including holding rods steady and moving electrode precisely.

Manipulate dials, knob, switches and triggers.

Effectively utilize known welding process on pipe of carbon, stainless or other metals.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust,
fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and
in all types of weather and temperature conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
See and hear well (either naturally or with correction).

Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.

Frequent standing and walking.

Occasional climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and crouching.
Climb up on and balance on ladders, scaffolding, or stairs.

Position may require driving a company-supplied golf cart, as needed.

Lifting and / or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds of lifting / force
frequently.

Per Diem: $70/day
Travel: $250 to site only. (not paid upfront)
Schedule: 6am-6pm
