Coleto Creek Power Plant in Fannin, Texas is seeking 2 "Railcar Repairman"

LOCAL HIRE ONLY- NO PERDIEM

5 DAYS A WEEK - 8 HOURS A DAY WITH NIGHT AND WEEKEND CALL OUTS

24.00/hr

Primary Job Duties:
∑ Switch railcars on tracks to and from the rail shop facility
∑ Handle mechanical tasks commonly associated with railcar maintenance such as, but not limited to, welding, valve testing, wheel replacement, brake shoe replacement and repairs, coupling and draft gear work as well as all safety appliances on a railcar.
∑ Gauge and take measurements on certain railcar appliances as required by the AAR guidelines
∑ Assist in the normal day to day inspections of loaded unit trains upon arrival at plant site.
∑ Perform work utilizing shop equipment such as torches, welders, grinders and etc.
∑ Complete necessary paper work and records as directed and required
∑ Maintain housekeeping in and around rail shop facility
∑ Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
∑ Knowledge of coal unloading, transfer and storage systems
∑ Able to read and interpret various gages and measurement tools required for railcar maintenance
∑ Working knowledge of basic welding and cutting procedures
∑ Ability to operate mobile equipment such as locomotives, forklifts and etc.
∑ Good written and verbal communication skills
∑ Knowledge of general safety and environmental rules and regulations

Education, Licenses/Certificates Required:
∑ High School Diploma or equivalent
∑ Valid Driverís License

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
∑ Power Plant environment with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures and noise
∑ Rotating 12 hour shifts, on-call status, weekend work
∑ Stooping, crouching or kneeling required to perform many job tasks
∑ Requires lifting of 40 pounds overhead and 75 pounds from the floor to 36 inches
∑ Respirator may be required
∑ Must be able to distinguish colors
∑ Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work on elevated platforms
