[Project Manager] Electrical Project Manager (Construction)

Manage assigned projects in accord with contract documents and Phoenix Industrial policies, practices and business objectives. You will work primarily in the field managing trades and subcontractors and will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with contractors, construction engineering, and stakeholders while tracking a project's schedule and budget.

Project Execution

Thoroughly understand the contract documents, scope of work, specifications, and drawings on assigned projects.
Oversee procurement for the project ensuring best value purchasing of materials, equipment and subcontracts through competitive bidding and negotiation. Draft appropriate purchasing documents for issue by the office for the selected vendors.
Prepare and maintain an overall project schedule and 2-3 week look ahead schedules in Microsoft project or approved scheduling software.
Prepare and maintain a project budget in accord (Spectrum) with Phoenix policy updating as necessary to reflect approved changes in the contract.
Review project cost reports biweekly for accuracy and make necessary corrections.
Prepare a monthly forecast to complete for projects with input from subordinates to predict as accurately as possible the financial outcome of assigned projects incorporating changes in contract as well as changes in project conditions.
Prepare and submit for client approval contract change orders (Spectrum) on own authority up to $100,000 and with management approval for changes greater than $100,000 in value.
Prepare invoices in concert with home office and contract documents.
Review and approve invoices and pay applications from major project vendors.
Prepare and submit project reports and maintain files in accord with Phoenix procedures.
Develop the project quality control plan in accord with Phoenix policies and contract documents.
Maintain a daily diary or log of work activities, meetings, and significant conversations or verbal directions.
Maintain close contact and good working relationship with customer representatives.
Oversee the completion of punch lists and project close-out.

Business Development

Performs lead role in developing estimates and proposals for assigned bid opportunities including attending job walks, preparing labor and material take-offs, soliciting vendor quotes, collating data to estimate, preparing bid forms and schedules and bid letter.
Submit bids for established clients on own authority up to $100,000.
Participate in review of the potential project, the estimate, and the bid letter with Phoenix management for bids greater than $100,000.
Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in pre-award interviews and discussions with potential customers.


Demonstrated knowledge of methods of construction practices and project execution.
Practical knowledge of construction trades.

Must have excellent communication skills and related team-building skills required to instruct, motivate, and manage field employees and to communicate effectively with customers.
Must work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance in accordance with project and company work hours.
Must be able to travel and complete extended assignments in the field with monthly opportunities to travel home.


Bachelor degree in electrical engineering or construction related major and 8 years experience in electrical construction work or progressively responsible supervisory positions in construction trades for 12 years.
