Baker Concrete Construction, Inc., one of the nation's largest concrete contractors is searching for a Party Chief. The Party Chief is responsible for all layout activities and ensures safe, accurate work. Has a good understanding of SQP goals and collaborates with project leadership to identify improvement ideas. Contributes to effective project leadership to identify improvement ideas. Contributes to effective project management through daily observations and communications. Interfaces daily with the client and project management to resolve tolerance conflicts and field constructability issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the Installation of Onsite layout: Responsible for accurately maintaining all physical site dimensions and controls. responsible for accurate layout of building location, structures, and dimensions throughout the project. Establishes procedures and coordinates with the client to define primary survey points and transfer building control on the site. manages secondary control and communicates procedures to individual layout crews. Ensures implementation of procedures to adequately provide layout methods and check/re-check. Calculates and computes technical information to be used by the Instrument Man such as defining points needed in a data collector. Calculates and monitors concrete hold quantities on a daily basis.
Provides Layout with Adheres to Quality Control Requirements: Reviews construction documentation for accuracy, deviations, and conflicts and writes clarification requests accordingly. Collaborates with Superintendent, Foremen and other trades to resolve constructability conflicts. Interfaces with Formwork Engineering department to provide layout for formwork shop drawings. Reviews field notes and documentation generated by survey or layout crews. reviews and understand construction drawings and identifies discrepancies. responsible for communication of changes and maintenance of technical drawings, as-builts, clarification logs., etc. Knows and applies general construction tolerances in the application of work including the determination of the most stringent tolerance and its use.
Direct and Oversees Staff: Supervises, trains, evaluates, and develops driect reports to ensure maximum return on investment. Ensures support managers within area of responsibility also supervise, train, evaluate and develop their direct reports. Address complaints appropriately. Provides guidance, direction, coaching, and support to direct reports to maximize individual and overall department performance. Ensures support managers within area of responsibility also provide guidance, direction, etc. to their direct reports. Takes appropriate action to develop direct reports including, but not limited to, preparing and monitoring career development plans, promotions, demotions, lateral moves, corrective action, and progressive discipline. Ensures support managers also take appropriate action with their staffs. Conducts department staff meeting and participates in developing initiatives, goals, objectives, systems, policies, and procedures. Ensures that staff receive timely and appropriate compensation. Collaborates with HR to ensure compliance with the employment laws, labor laws, and related Company policies; may be responsible for conducting training or coordinating workshops related to such compliance.
Work Environment: Work is a combination of office and field environments involving various types of conditions encountered on the construction site. Work involves exposure to outside weather conditions.
