SpawGlass, a Texas-based commercial and civil contractor, has just created a position on the team as a Layout Technician II for our Austin Division.

Analyze construction drawings/documents for dimensional and coordination discrepancies or inconsistencies; notify proper authorities and contribute to solutions
Establish horizontal and vertical control from civil engineer's benchmark
Lay out building corners, walls, foundations, piers, columns, radius and spatial points, etc.
Check specialty contractors' work for accuracy to drawings
Perform quality estimates of concrete, dirt, paving, etc. to be used by superintendent
Work with superintendent to schedule work to be performed
Full responsibility for as-built data and electronic as-builts
Ability to evaluate engineering tools, instruments and software
Correspond, as direct, with owners and consultants
Assume other responsibilities as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
Mastery of current surveying instruments, including GPS machine-controlled systems
Proficient with AutoCAD and other design and survey software
Ability to use modeling software to anticipate conflicts
Ability to work within specified timelines and plan tasks accordingly
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to speak, read and write English
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 5+ years of experience
Valid first aid certificate (can be obtained upon employment)
OSHA 30-Hour certification (can be obtained upon employment)
